Muzaffarpur is one of the major towns of Bihar. It is situated near the historical Vaishali,
one of the oldest republics of the world. The name of the city is after it's founder's name Muzaffar
Khan who founded it in the 18th century. Muzaffarpur was the part of Lichhavi territory at the begning
of the 6th century B.C. and therefore, there are plenty of interesting historical sites around this area.

Muzaffarpur district is surrounded by East Champaran and Sitamadhi districts in the north ,
Vaishali in the south, Darbhanga and Samastipur in the east and Saran and Gopalganj districts in
west. It is located near Burhi Gandak river and spread over in the area of 3172 sq. kms.
Famous things:-
Muzaffarpur City is world famous for it's best quality Litchi, which are exported all over the
world. It is one of the oldest and largest trading centres in the entire state.
As it is situated near Birganj (Nepal), it is the gateway to Nepal via Birganj.
Muzaffarpur has several excursions like Vaishali, Sonepur and Hazipur.
It is also a very important trade centre for cloths.
