MIT is proud to have Dr. Manohar Prasad Jakhanwal as principal. A man of academic excellence,
high administrative capacity and dynamic personality, Dr. Jakhanwal made many facilities
available to the students and teachers of the institute and has generated the pace
of development in the field of academic program and extra curricular activities. He has been working hard for abound excellence of students
and college and his efforts have been crowned with success in developing M.I.T into a
high profile college.
ABOUT PRINCIPAL
Dr. M P Jakhanwal, Principal and Professor of Civil Engineering is a renowned Research worker, Teacher &
Consultant in the field of civil Engineering. He secured his B.Sc.(Engg.)- Civil degree in 1966 at the age of 19.5 years from
National Institute of Technology, Patna (Previously known as B.C.E. Patna). He completed his M.Sc.(Civil Engg.) in 1968
and Ph.D.(Civil Engg.) in 1983 both from Institute of Technology-Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU).
He also had a special training under technical teacher training program for three years at I.T B.H.U. from 1967 to
1970 under a Government of India scheme during which he taught PG & UG students.
After that he had a short stint in Bokaro steel limited. He joined this Institute as Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering
on 21.05.1971 and was promoted as Associate Professor of civil engineering on 21.05.1984 and Professor of civil
Engineering on 21.05.1987. He has also worked as a consulting civil Engineer in a Power company, Govt. of Iran during
1985 to 1986. At present, he has been appointed as coordinator, PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna), by the
government of India. He has 25 technical Research Publications. He has also guided successfully two Ph.D. Research
scholars and several M.Tech. Research scholars. Presently, he is also Dean, faculty of Engineering - B.R.A. Bihar
University, Muzaffarpur.

I welcome you all to our new website. Let me take the opportunity introduce you to MIT, Muzaffarpur.
Since from its establishment in 1954, surveys have been rating MIT Muzaffarpur as a major center of technical education in several branches of engineering and technology.
MIT offers high quality education and hostel facilities, excellent laboratories, computer and internet access, a library occupied with a large number of books & journals,
sports club along with a gym and audio-visual hall for performing extra curricular activities.
MIT was first established with only one branch i.e. civil engineering, other branches were added latter on.
Now, we have about 900 students studying at our campus in seven different branches. MIT is a lively institution,
with its dedicated & qualified teachers and staffs.
The students work on various internal/external, departmental/ Interdepartmental projects.
They undergo a 60 days vocational training in various leading industries as a part of their
curriculum. They also present technical seminars on recent advancements in various fields.
MITians have shown their excellent working and managerial skills in various government and
private sectors of India and abroad.
We at MIT, are working with a team spirit, with dedication,
sincerity and enthusiasm to build ourselves and the society as a whole.
The main objective of MIT is to develop engineering graduates who are committed to excellence
in their personal and professional endeavours and who have the vision, courage and dedication to improve
the overall quality of life in India.
